In short
Compare the TDS credit shown in your Form 168 (earlier Form 26AS) against the TDS receivable in your books. The tool matches by TAN, section and period and flags any missing or mismatched credit — so you fix it before filing your return.Who it's for
- Businesses and professionals claiming TDS credit at return-filing time
- Accountants and CA firms reconciling 26AS / Form 168 for multiple clients
- Anyone who has faced a TDS-credit mismatch notice (Section 168 / old 143(1))
What's inside
- A Form 168 (26AS) sheet — paste the credit entries deductors have reported
- A Books sheet — income booked and TDS receivable from your ledgers
- A Reconciliation sheet — auto-pulls both sides by TAN + section + period and flags each line
- A Summary sheet — totals, a count by status, and the exact TDS to chase or book
- Input cells open; formula cells locked & password-protected
The four statuses
- Matched — both sides agree within ₹1
- Only in Form 168 — credit shows in 168 but isn't booked → book the income/TDS
- Only in Books — you expected credit but it isn't in 168 → chase the deductor to deposit/file
- Amount mismatch — both present but the TDS differs → reconcile the figures
How to use it
- Open the file and enable editing
- Paste your Form 168 / 26AS rows into the first sheet (TAN, section, period, amount, TDS)
- Enter the same from your books on the Books sheet
- On the Reconciliation sheet, list each Deductor + TAN + section + period once — the figures, difference and status fill in automatically
- Read the Summary, then filter the Status column to build your follow-up list
FAQs
What is Form 168?
Form 168 is the annual tax statement under the Income-tax Act 2025 — it replaces the old Form 26AS and shows the tax credited against your PAN by deductors.
Why reconcile Form 168 with my books?
To make sure every rupee of TDS you expect is actually reflected against your PAN before you file. Missing credit means a deductor hasn't deposited or filed; an extra entry means you haven't booked the income.
How does the tool match entries?
By TAN + section + period. For each combination it pulls the TDS from Form 168 and from your books, computes the difference, and flags the line.
